An EDI provider helps companies exchange business documents electronically with trading partners instead of using paper, email, or manual data entry. This includes:

• Partner onboarding – Setting up secure connections (AS2, SFTP, OFTP) with each trading partner
• Message translation – Converting between EDI formats (X12, EDIFACT) and your internal systems

As an EDI consultant and EDI developer, I handle the technical implementation using EDI tools and EDI integration software, not just strategy documents. I build the mappings, configure the protocols, test with partners, and hand off working integrations.

I work with the most common B2B integration solutions and protocols used in supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing:

• AS2 – Secure HTTP-based EDI transmission with encryption and digital signatures
• SFTP / FTP – File-based EDI exchange, key management, scheduled polling
• OFTP – Odette File Transfer Protocol for automotive and logistics partners

Most EDI projects involve integrating with an ERP system. I specialize in:

• SAP integration – Using IDocs, BAPIs, and RFC to connect EDI transactions to SAP ECC or S/4HANA. I map X12 850 (PO) to IDoc ORDERS05, X12 810 (Invoice) to IDoc INVOIC02, etc.
• Oracle / NetSuite – REST APIs, CSV imports, or database staging tables for EDI transaction posting
• Custom ERPs – File-based or API integration depending on what your system supports
